Tech Tip: If you own a mouse with a wheel or scroll function, hold down the Ctrl key (bottom left hand corner of the keyboard) and roll the wheel, the text on this page and many others will change size.

On this page you can expect to find some useful tips and links to sites that have proven their worth time and time again, the page has been written so as to load fast and on any type of computer for not everyone has a rocket-ship with the best browser software, and many people who visit this site have a broken computer. This web-site is also quite easy to use if the text has an underline it is a link to additional files or webpages, click on it to view the page you are seeking. Explore, have fun and learn, but please understand at all times, that what I have written I am responsible for, what others place on their web-sites I have no control over. If your wondering why there are so few links for Windows XP, well, simply put there is a wealth of information under the F1 key and through the Help sytem.

A couple of Must-Have's, these downloads could save you $ and time. NEVER FORGET that your on-line safety is your own business - no one elses, YOU must be the one who updates your own anti-virus programs often and by often I mean at least four times a month; better yet every couple of days, check for updates often and you will not suffer data loss, or worse yet Dollar loss. Each week I service a dozen clients machines that are virus damaged, and this is a sorry situation that is best to be avoided. Only by updating and keeping current can such situations be prevented, there are hundreds of sites on the Internet where you can learn about protecting yourself from virus damage, http://www.sophos.com/ is a good one and there are many more like http://www.free.grisoft.com It is up to you to protect yourself, no one else can do it for you, and all you need to do is update your anti-virus software very often and learn a little about what can destroy your computer.

Everyone knows that hackers and crackers are out there on the Web and that many of them have nothing better to do than to cause problems for other Net users. The best way that I have found to keep them out and to safe guard your system from hackers is to download and run Zonealarm, it is a free download from http://wwww.zonealarm.com.

Are you sick of posting URLs in emails only to have it break when sent causing the recipient to have to cut and paste it back together? Then you've come to the right place. By entering in a URL in the text field below, we will create a tiny URL that will not break in email postings and never expires. My short URL is http://tinyurl.com/8hhkd
Enter a long URL to make tiny:

To safeguard your computer from virus damage, Iam currently very, very impressed with AVG anti-virus from http://www.Grisoft.com and the new AVG Free Version 7 is outstanding. Another free anti-virus program can be obtained form http://www.free-AV.com , this program is typical of the high standards we have all come to expect from German companies. It is my intention to always offer the best of the protection products on this site. Never forget, that the World Wide Web is continually changing, if you searched for something last month and you did not find it, well, it just may be there now. Use good search engines and seek out that which is quality and free.

Do take the time to at least look at these three fine products, they are both free and they are both very, very good. If you have another anti-virus program, such as Nortons, then ZoneAlarm is a real gap filler and it closes your ports and backdoors to hackers. A new problem is spyware, and small spy programs pushed into your computer while on the internet not only slows down your PC, but also 'calls' for adverts to be sent to your screen and e-mail. To remove spyware I recommend Adaware, available free from http://www.lavasoft.de this free program is outstanding and one I use as often as my anti-virus. Another excellent product is a really nice Internet Browser named "Avant Browser", it has built in pop-up filters and all the advances we like to see, it can be downloaded free of charge from http://www.download.com/3001-2356_4-10328100.html
