Our bus driver was Mark from the Netherlands.  We rode our bus along the scenic Mosel  River and stopped to tour the Burg Eltz.  The castle had been in the Eltz family for 840 years, making their son the 34th generation.  We cautiously walked down the slippery road to the mighty castle after one member fell down.
Day 4
Porta Nigra - North Gate
Oh my ankle ...
St. Peters in Trier
In the afternoon, we stopped at the ancient Roman capital, Trier.  The only thing remaining of the four-mile town wall was the north gate.  We walked through the Cathedral (oldest church in Germany) and the Basilica.  At the Maket Square, I bought the largest Turkish figs I had ever seen.  How sweet they were!
We arrived at Baden-Baden where we would sleep two nights.  Several of us were fortunate to dine with Rolinka.  Her German skills always came in handy since most of us  were challenged with the difficult language.  We quickly learned about her charming negotiation skills and resourcefulness.
