Day 13
Day 14
Minus two members, we made our way to the picturesque town of Hallstatt, which was located in the heart of Austrias idyllic Salzkammergut Lake District.  As we walked to our Hotel Gruner Baum, we had already fell in love with this tiny town.  We stayed at the old but remodeled hotel with large rooms.  I could have slept in my bathroom.

Today I hooked up with Phil and Gail.  We walked up to the nearby Catholic church which had a well-tended graveyard and the chapel of decorated skulls.  After we had lunch at the lake-side table at the hotel, Gail decided to go shopping.  Phil and I took the cable-car to visit the old salt mine.  After the cable-car, there were more steep hills and staircases to reach the salt mine.  Since I had never been to a salt mine, it was an interesting experience.

Mark & Rolinka
Valuable land
At the group dinner, we shared the last meal with our driver Mark.  When he was not driving the bus, he liked to fish trout.  He was happy to receive our thank-you gift of a fishing rod and reel.  I was amazed   how Rolinka found such a bargain for the fishing gear!
