Adapted courses are offered to autistic and dysphasic children through specialised schools
and centres. The goals for these courses: Ø To create a calming
environment that fosters an increased attention span and ability to listen attentively Ø To increase the ability to
quickly and easily relax Ø To regain a sense of balance
in space Ø To increase bodily awareness
by being grounded Ø To facilitate integration in
society (school, family, social activities) by developing an openness to the outside world. Ø To foster independence in
daily activities Ø To maximize potential and
capabilites (senses, intelectual and physical ability, creativity, etc.) Ø To provide simple and
effective tools that can be used to manage daily life (relaxation, protection, etc.) It is also possible to teach
Chindaï to autistic or dysphasic children with the parents participation. This has been found to maximise the benefits of
Chindaï and facilitates the daily use of the techniques by the children with their parents. This
shared activity can create a privilidged bond between parent and child. Testimonial from Mrs. C., assistant director of School E. in Montreal, «…The
Chindaï courses have enabled our students to develop
strategies to release their stress thereby allowing them to better use their energies in a constructive and self-respective manner. The courses have also helped the students to be better able to visualize vocabulary used in stories and conversations. Moreover, the techniques have fostered a calm atmosphere that allows for better focus and attention and rest time. Other benefits we’ve observed in our
students : Ø Ability
to calm down quickly and easily Ø Ability
to focus was increased and maintained during the courses Ø Being calmer
and more receptive, the students have been better able to communicate amongst themselves» Testimonial from Mr. B., a special education teacher who works with dysphasic students at School C in Montreal, «The Chindaï sessions have enabled the students to discover another aspect of life. The sense of calm that comes about during the sessions has occurred during other class time and has helped students concentrate during classes…this teaching is beneficial and greatly aids with behaviour and concentration. It would be very appropriate for Mr. A. to continue his work with learning disabled youth.» next page Chindaï for seniors |
