"Welcome to Arolos Weyr ... "

Arolos Weyr is a wonderful, frantic place. I was searching for another RPG to fill a hole left in my soul by the sad closing of Matretheran, and I stumbled upon Arolos. And I was stunned. Most Pern RPGs are kind of sleepy and usually have a few core players who play often and not much else. But not Arolos! They have 200 players, at least half of whom are somewhat active, if not more so. And there's something interesting always happening! I joined immediately. And was blown away. This place is even more awesome than I could imagine. I get over 200 'mails a day. It's crazy. I had to get a gmail account to deal simply with the mail load (because I _hate_ digest mode). But it is the most fun I've had since ... well, since the golden days of Matre, Whitefalls, and Starshine. And that's saying something. So you should check it out. Because it's worth it.

Description of Arolos Weyr

Really, the best way to find out what Arolos is like is to visit the site. But I will try. Arolos Weyr is one of the Southern Weyrs in Alternate Eighth Pass Pern. It was opened at the end of the last Interval, and is considered the most relaxed of the Weyrs, and is sometimes known as the 'Last Chance' Weyr. Its opposite, Fort, is terribly hidebound, and unlike Arolos, relies on ranking and fear to control its inhabitants. Arolos is very relaxed and groovy, and is always full of interesting happenings. It is built in the remains of an offshoot volcano near what once was Landing, right on Arolos Bay.
