It starts with a synopsis that helps to connect biological, social and political aspects together to make it an interdisciplinary study. The first paper deals with the bioassessment of the riverwater based on the study of macroinvertebrates. Water quality has been assinged to river water based on NEPBIOS (NEPalese BIOtic Score) method which is mainly designed to monitor water quality in Nepal by using benthic macroinvertebrates (please refer to Dr. Subodh Sharma for further details about NEPBIOS). The second paper deals with the social aspect concentrating on the utilization and management of river resources and the impacts of dam. Similarly, the third paper of the thesis tries to explain political ecology of dams in Nepal taking Tinau River dam as an example.
