Abstract
Present Investigation reveals the existing fish fauna and their distribution pattern in the Tinau River which includes 35 species, belonging to 25 genera, 12 families and 5 orders. Physico-chemical and biological parameters have been studied in relation to the distribution, abundance and frequency occurrence of ichthyofauna in the Tinau River. This investigation also includes the socio-economic status of the fishermen, fishing implements and methods used in Tinau River. The impact of dam on fish distribution, management and conservation considerations for the development of fishery production in natural water bodies has been described. An attempt has been made to describe the ecological behaviour of some of the important fish fauna of Tinau River.
