Dr. Humayun Azad

Dr. Azad was stabbed in the head several times by unknown assailants, presumed to be of the fundamentalist rightwing block. Dr. Azad is a teacher at the University of Dhaka and a prominent writer and free thinker. The fundamentalists had been threatening him earlier and his family is being threatened now and asked not to pursue justice. Dr. Azad is currently at the Combined Military Hospital in the Intensive Care Unit and put on a ventilator.

Latest News: Dr. Azad is off the ventilator and has regained consciousness.

In the afternoon, non political activists held cultural programs at the Teachers' Students' Centre and infront of the University Library. Sommilito Sangskritik Jote an organisation of leading cultural activists held a rally at the Shaheed Minar at which national leaders and icons spoke. They spoke for unity of the opposition to unseat the present alliance government.
