| A NEW DAY Eyes, dark and swollen as monsoon skies, watched the sun rise sought hope in flamingo clouds but found none She sighed no more time or dreams no more chances she couldn't wait another day had already waited far too long So she took her lipstick, the new one a defiant red and applied it liberally a symbol Of revolution of evolution The new woman smiled back her secret eyes hid well the pain of battered flesh and shattered dreams; her broken heart Golden hair was changed to red a red sea of waves that caressed and bathed the pearls at the shoreline of her throat aqua cotton changed to silk and she almost laughed But she didn't She kept it still and silent imprisoned deep within her a butterfly in a chrysallis of fear and misery until she could free it One day Far from here Her tears fell as she slid the gold band from her finger and tossed it high amongst flamingo clouds. |
