Chatcat's Hobbies and Interests

Keep your eyes peeled folks - I'll be listing links for some of the interests listed here as and when I find them on my travels so you can go foraging for yourself!

A quick overview

I have a wide variety of interests. With my collies I've done Agility Shows with my local dog club. For many years I was a member of a creative writer's club and even managed to get a few poems and short stories published.

I've sung in a choir, sometimes doing solo's for weddings (not that I'm a particularly marvellous singer - just easily persuaded into making a fool of myself!). For many years I was a member of English Heritage, a national association that protects and promotes historical sites and buildings in the UK.

I spent time as a school governor, and have partially trained to be an English Teacher for 11-18 year olds. Even though I loved the job, it was a hugely stressful occupation - so there's a big how-do-you-do to all teachers out there. I've also spent a lot of time, before teacher training, working voluntarily as a classroom assistant in Primary, Secondary and Special Needs schools.

I decided to change career direction, though. So, as a current member of the unemployed, I'm re-training as a Proofreader, Editor and Copywriter. In my spare time I'm getting more involved with computing and the internet, venturing to build my own computer (with a heck of a lot of help - thanks Baz), homepages, and even my own chatroom, Chatcat's Parlour.

But I absolutely love new country music. So on Tuesday and Friday nights you can usually guarantee I'll be whooping it up in my local social clubs, listening to live bands and stomping my boots to the sounds of Dave Sherrif, The Dixie Chicks or Shania Twain, to mention but a few, alongside all my linedancing buddies.
