$1,000 and publication in the summer 2002 issue of "Five Points." Send up to three typed unpublished poems, no longer than 50 lines each. Include your name and address on each poem. Sawtooth Poetry Prize

Nicholas Roerich Poetry Prize

This prize for a first volume of poetry honors Nicholas Roerich, Russian philosopher, painter, poet, and international advocate for peace. Winner receives $1,000, book publication and a book launch at the Nicholas Roerich Museum in New York. Manuscripts must be original poetry written in English, typed and at least 48 pgs., accompanied by a $20 reading fee, and should include the author's name, address and a one-page biographical statement. Poems may have previously appeared in magazines, anthologies or chapbook runs of 500 or less copies. Send manuscripts by postmark deadline of

American Poetry Review/Honickman First Book Prize

Prize of $3,000, introduction by the judge, Derek Walcott, and distribution by Copper Canyon Press through Consortium. Author receives standard book contract, royalties in addition to prize money and $1,000 for a book tour. Open to any U.S. writer in English who has not published a book-length collection of poetry. Single-spaced, paginated manuscripts of at least 48 pages, and with a table of contents and acknowledgements page,  must be postmarked between
Aug. 1 and Oct. 31. Include two title pages - one with your name, address, phone number and book title and a second with the title only. Your name must not appear anywhere else on the manuscript. Use a plain file folder for the manuscript. An entry fee of $20 should be made payable to The American Poetry Review. Simultaneous submissions allowed, but APR must be notified if your manuscript is accepted elsewhere. Send a self-addressed stamped postcard to acknowledge receipt of your manuscript.
