| ABOUT THE ORGANISATION The Crescent Educational and Volunteer Service (CEVS) is a non-governmental non-profit making organisation dedicated to the provision of educational and social support services to disadvantaged children (including those with disabilities) and their families in Northern Ghana. |

| AIMS /OBJECTIVES In line with her motto of 'Service for the value of living' CEVS has the following broad objectives: 1.Advocacy and Support for education especially of those children who are disadvantaged by disability, poverty and lack of care from their primary family. 2. Provision of social services to children and women experiencing lack of care and support in the community.These aims will be achieved through community education via forums, and radio, provision of materials and support within family contexts and in established residential homes, as well as counselling. The work of CEVS is community-based, recognising the role of family/commnity context in the child's total development. 3. Research on educational and social development HISTORY: CEVS was formed in 1993 by a group of teachers, social/health workers concerned about the serious inequalities and general poor educational and social services provision in Northern Ghana. As an organisation CEVS was formally incoporated in 1998. |

| MANAGEMENT The organization's management system is made up of nine member board of directors, six executive officers and a number of volunteers. The Head office is located in Tamale and subsidiary offices currently only Bimbila. |

| PARTNERSHIPS: CEVS has had contacts and dealings with some agencies/institutions in the last years including Action on Disability and Development, UNICEF,(Ghana), Action Aid Ghana, Department of Social Welfare, and Northern Network on Educatonal Development. 2003-2005 Project Partnerships The Dagon Development Association (DDA) in Australia has entered into partnership with CEVS to deliver its future projects in Ghana. The Association has provided support to clinics, hospitals and schools in Dagbon in the last 5 years. The DDA Calculator Project: The DDA (Australia) project for 2004 was the provision of scientific calculators to rural senior sceondary schols in Dagbon. As part of the partnership agreement, CEVS was tasked with the delivery of the items to the receipient schools on the 12th October 2004, The program manager of CEVS Mr. Hudu Mumin and DDA representative, Mr. Sintaro Mahama presented the items on behalf of DDA to the schools. |
