Current Program Activities
Research: We have had engagment o volunteers from outside of Ghana and this hs allowed continue to provide services. More importantly to start some field research. Our current initiative is exploring the functioning of Community- based rehabilitation prgrams in the different regions.
Children activities programs The children activity centre and child care centres started in 2006/2007 are continuing to provide valauble services to vulnerable children.
Hisotrical (Achievements-2002-2004)
Since its formal inception in 1998 to the year 2000 CEVS has adopted over 40 disadvantaged children and assisted them with financial and educational materials. Also from the year 2001 to 2003, CEVS adopted 11 more disadvantaged children who were of school going age and enrolled them in public schools in both Nanumba and Tamale Districts. Planned meetings with parents or foster-parents are used as avenues to establish links and genrate discussions regarding how they can best support the kids in their development-at home and school. Such meetings may seem unecesary, but in a culture where disability is met with negative atttiude, and where families are so poor, the big question is what priority is put on educating a disabled child? These children are unlikely to attend school unless a service of this nature engages with their reluctant parents/guardians.
