Celtic progress

Irish men have always been known for their ability to change with the times, even if it also means clinging to centuries-old traditions. The big fat giant Irish head can be pretty tough sometimes, which is handy if you're stranded on a desert island and need to crack open a coconut for survival. But even if we do things a little old-fashioned, it's good to see, for instance, Irish men embracing non-Western practices such as yoga.

For men to find time to explore their inner selves, however, they must continually balance responsibility and leisure. Often they must share their parental duties with the growing numbers of mothers entering the work force. Sometimes this means entrusting their children to Irish day care.

To Irish men, holding a Guinness world record is a lifestyle, not an achievement. Traditions die hard. And sometimes, so do Irish men.
