FLOODING OF THE MINE

The work bench is gradually being engulfed with the rising tide.

The flooding of the mine. Some of the mechanical shovels-uneconomical to remove, gradually being taken over by the water.

One of the large wagons left behind. The water is still rising.

It’s a good job that he had his Wellys on. If he’d stayed there much longer the water would be up to his knees.

The pumps have been shut down and the water has risen above 445 fathom level.
