Knot or Ribbon Magick
Knot or Ribbon Magick is magick that uses any kind of colored thread, string or ribbon to
invoke a specific intention. Friendship bracelets, hair wraps, lovers knots, the red string of Kabbalah and Buddahism, are forms of this magick.
The path I follow, holds that when you are romantically involved with someone you wear the colors associated with this person. For women a hair wrap is ideal, but bracelets work just as well for both sexes. Also a hair wrap or bracelet is good for magick like quitting smoking or getting over a lost love.
When figuring out the colors associated with your lover, the easiest way to do so is using number magick, but you may simply use colors your lover picks for you as well. The color isn't as significant a part in lovers knots, as it is in candle magick or healing magick. It's the commitment implied in the knots that is more important.
In ribbon magick, used most often during handfasting or binding ceremonies, color is significant and can signify the intent of the ritual. With binding, a ribbon or string must be strong, and have a strong, deep color. Say you want to bind your cravings for cigarettes, you would choose a ribbon of red or green, and wrap it around a pack of cigarettes, knotting it three times at the end, while reciting a binding spell.
