Questions
and answers
1-
Can the Student change of family?
Yes, but after the period of adaptation. It takes some time to find a
new emplacement for the Student in another family.
2- Must the Student contact the Host Family before arriving in Spain?
Yes, because it makes easier the integration in the Family.
3- What out-of-school activities can the Student do?
It will always depend on the area where the Host Family live, but some
possibilities could be sports, such as football, basketball, aerobics
or music, theatre... Out-of-school activities are usually not very expensive.
BOOGIE can offer them as extra option.
4- Will the Students have their own room?
Depending on the rooms which the Host Family have, but it is not an essential
requirement. They could share the room with a boy or a girl of the same
age and sex.
5- Is the high school in the same place where the Student lives?
It is possible that the high school is not in the same place. Then, once
in Spain, the Student should pay the transport until the high school.
BOOGIE will inform you about the additional cost of the transport.
6- Will the Student be the only foreigner in the Family?
Probably yes. Although if there are other foreigners, they will come from
other countries.
7-What should we do if the Student feels ill?
Do what you would do with the other sons or daughters and bring the Student
to the nearest health centre, if it is necessary. Every Student has a
wide medical and accident insurance. You could also talk to the Area Representative.
8-How should the Host Family act with the Exchange Students? Like with
a son or a daughter of the same age. The Exchange Students should not
be considered as guests, so they must do the same housework as the other
members of the family, laying the table, doing the washing-up, tidying
the room, etc.
9- In case of doing and Academic Year Stay, can the Exchange Students
go on holidays to their homes at Christmas or at Easter?
Yes, but we do not recommend it. As then, once there, the return to Spain
is very hard. The traditions, the festivities and the holidays atmosphere
with the Host Family are worth living and the most important thing, they
increase the ties of friendship.
10- How much could a Student spend extra? It depends, but the Student
should have enough money for the transport, going out with friends, some
presents and other unpredictable expenses.
11- Can the Exchange Student work during their stay in Spain?
Yes, but not more than 10 hours per week in the basic programs. BOOGIE
can offer it extra option.
