The
Exchange Student
They
are boys or girls between 13 and 25 years old wishing to know another
culture by living it and at the same time improving their knowledge of
Spanish or Catalan.
To be an Exchange Student, the process followed by BOOGIE is the following
one:
1- Interview with the future candidate and the family (personally or by
other means).
2- The Exchange Student hands over the documents needed to participate
in the chosen program.
3- BOOGIE decides if the candidate is ready to do this program and the
candidate is declared suitable or non suitable. If the candidate is suitable,
the student becomes an Exchange Student.
4- BOOGIE sends the profile of the Exchange Student to the Area Representatives.
5- The Host Families, previously selected, receive the profiles of the
Exchange Students and choose the student who best fits their lifestyle.
6- BOOGIE approves their decision and gives some information of the Host
Family to the Student.
7- The Students have a previous contact with the Host Family by e-mail,
letter and or telephone before their departure to Spain.
8- Meeting for the parents and Students before their departure (personally
or through other communication systems) to solve possible doubts.
9- The Exchange Student arrives in Spain.

By
means of an Area Representative’s net, Host Families are selected.
BOOGIE visits the houses and the Host Families several times to know
by observing and interviewing them if they really deserve to host our
Students.
The Host Family is only responsible of giving accomodation and food
to the Student, and overall love and tolerance as well as receiving
the same treatment as with their sons and daughters, but Exchange Students
must pay their extra expenses like clothes, presents, fun, transport
...
|
Some
families want the Exchange Students to speak their language to their
sons or daughters. Although Exchange Students come to speak Spanish
as much as possible, the fact of practising their mother’s language
from time to time and for a short time has been proved to be good for
their mind, specially at the beginning of their stay in Spain.
The Exchange Students are the only ones responsible of their money,
but the Host Family can help them to manage it.
The Exchange Student will always be able to contact the BOOGIE Area
Representative to talk about any doubt or problem the Exchange Student
might have at any time.
The Area Representative and also the headquarter of BOOGIE will contact
the Student from time to time to follow-up the stay, family, high school,
friends, etc...

|
The
Exchange Students must always follow the “Student’s Regulations”.
The non-observance of these rules means the immediate return of the Exchange
Students to their country of origin paying the Student all the additional
expenses for the ticket or others.
Students must also obey the rules of the Host Family regarding to housework,
schedules, food, lifestyle... and carry out their duties in the high school
as well. |

The
Family will be very important during the stay in Spain, but the resounding
success of the program will basically depend on the attitude of the
Student with the Family as well as the effort and motivation to integrate
into a culture different from their own one, another country and the
practise of the language too.
An extraordinary and indescribable character-building experience will
give the Student the chance to mature intellectually and acquire responsibility
by learning or improving at the same time one of the most spoken languages
in the world, Spanish, or a minority language which arouses more and
more interest, Catalan.
Do not let this wonderful chance go by! Come!
