The black-backed variety is found over most of mainland Australia. They grow to about 34-44 cm. They have a loud
warbling call. Their nests are untidy cups made of twigs. During mating periods they can become quite aggressive towards humans and often attacking from behind.
PIED CURRAWONG
About 41-51 cm. Black with white in wing, rump, undertail and tip of tail.
Makes loud 'currawa-currawong' sound. Lays eggs in large cuplike nest. Ranges from Cape York Peninsula to south-western Victoria.
