Safe Driving Habits

It is your responsibility to drive safely on our roads.

Driver error causes 85% of collisions.

Every six minutes, someone is injured in a collision.

Every eight hours, a person dies.

You can stop a collision before it happens by having safe driving habits.

Do not drink and drive.

Wear your seat belt. All occupants, including children should wear a seat belt. Not wearing your seat belt costs you a fine and adds two demerit points to your licence.

Obey the speed limit. Know the limitations of yourself and your vehicle. Drive according to weather and traffic conditions.
Do not take risks.

Do not drive when you are tired or upset.

Yield the right of way. If you are unsure of who has the right of way, let the other vehicle go first.

Keep at least a two second space between your vehicle and the one in front. Leave more space if you are driving a heavier vehicle.

Use your headlights at all times so other drivers can see you.

Inspect your vehicle before and during each trip. Carry spare bulbs, fuses, belts and fluids.

Driving safe and operating safe vehicles ensures that you will be around to enjoy another day.
