Viet Nam has an economy on the grow. The north has great
deposits of valuable minerals such as
Iron, Manganese, Titanium, Chromite and Anthracite Coal. Oil has been discovered
of the coast in
the South China Sea and the sites are being developed. The primary export
of Viet Nam is mined
materials due to these great deposits of valuable substances. The industry
of the country is
continuing to feel the effects of the prolonged war and hence the current
industrial ability is limited.
The sectors of industries that have the greatest growth rate are food processing
and textile
manufacturing. The current premier is Vo Van Kiel and he is an economic reformer.
The premier is
with the blessing of the current leader of the communist party, Do Muoi.
In the late 1980's the
government policies have been shifting towards privatization and attracting
foreign investment. In the
early 1990's the policy changes have had an effect and the economy has had
limited success in
recovery from the Viet Nam War. |
