The following recipes are from family and friends
that were gathered from around the world. I hope you enjoy them :)
"Scramble"
This is a long time favorite of my family. I use to enjoy it when I was a girl. You might know it by another name........'Chex Mix'
1 box Cheerios
1 box Chexits
1 box Rice Chex
1 bag or box pretzel sticks
1 pound mixed nuts
1 pound blanched peanuts
Mix the above items in a large roasting pan and set aside.
And then mix the following:
2 Cup Wesson oil
1 Tbsp. garlic salt
1 Tbsp. Lawry salt
2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
Pour the liquid mixture over the cereals and mix well, so as to coat all the cereal. Bake at 250 degrees for 2 hours being sure to stir every 15 min. Can then be places in airtight or zip lock bags. ENJOY!
"Soyu Chicken"
I was introduced to the wonderful world of Oriental cooking during the time we lived in Hawaii. This is a favorite of my boys. They love it. I hope you will too!
A 5 pound bag of frozen chicken thighs
2/3 Cup shoyu (soy sauce)
1/2 Cup brown sugar
1 Tbsp. oil
2 tsp. grated ginger
2 cloves garlic, crushed
Thaw the chicken if using frozen thighs. Place skin side down and bake in 325 degree oven for 1/2 hour. Drain. Mix other ingredients and pour over chicken; bake for another 1/2 hour. Thicken sauce with cornstarch, if desired, and pour over chicken before serving. Serve over rice. And ENJOY!
