Replacing
ASR-X Tact Switches June
29, 2002 ~ Looking for Tact Switches for your ASR-X
or ASR-X Pro?The following question found its way
to the ASR-X list: <<
I'm in need of a replacement tact switch,
specifically the "enter" button; knowing the ASR-X,
some of you probably have had a similar situation
of your own, and if so can you direct me to a
manufacturer of a comparable model? Although
I have no experience in the construction of circuit
boards, would I be correct in assuming a soldering
iron is the correct tool for removing and
reattaching said piece? I thank your expertise.
>> To
which Shift replied: "those
switches are very common, fortunately! look
at page 12 here: http://www.allelectronics.com/pdf/switches.pdf I
don't remember exactly what the ASR-X switches look
like, but I think you want either the MPB-128 or
the MPB-129. You
need to undo screws to get to the Printed Circuit
Board where the switches lie. Then, a simple
electronic (as opposed to welding!) soldering iron
with solder should be all you need. It will help to
use some (inexpensive) desoldering braid when
removing the older component." |
