Time Compression and Expansion using Pitch Detuning

Select pad sound and choose pad "edit" or select track and choose track "edit".

Global Settings
  • Fx Bus = Dry

    Pitch Settings

  • Semitone Tuning = Adjust To Taste
  • Fine Tuning = Adjust To Taste

Adjust these two parameters until your sample has the right length. Do not pay any attention to the pitch of the sample. Just listen to the sample's tempo, or feel for the groove of the sample combined with your other material. Write down your end results.

Global Settings
  • Fx Bus = Insert

    Insert Effect Settings

  • Select Insert Effect 31 = Pitch Detuner
  • Input Mix = Full wet
  • Global Reverb Amt = 0
  • Voice 1 Semitone = Opposite of above parameter
  • Voice 1 Fine Tuning = Opposite of above parameter
  • Voice 1 Level = 0.0dB
  • Voice 1 Regen = 0
  • Voice 1 Width = Adjust to taste
  • Voice 1 Mod = 0
  • Voice 2 Level = Off

Note: This can be done on the Track level as well as the Pad/Sample level.
