Vinay del Zexay:

You start at the Inn with Ace insulting Joker, Queen, and Jacques for laziness. Ace goes upstairs to talk to Geddoe and tells Geddoe they have a chance at an assignment. Geddoe is given two choices:

It's necessary right?
(Agree to the assignment)
I don't think so.
(Disagree and make Ace sweat)

If you took the second choice, Ace says they need exercise and Geddoe is given two choices:

I suppose.
(Agree to the assignment)
That won't be necessary.
(Disagree and make Ace squirm through another explanation)

If you chose the second choice, Ace will try to convince you again, but still be unclear. You are given two choices:

All right, then.
(Accept assignment)
Just come out and say it.
(Ace has to explain that the group is broke, and you accept the mission)

You get control of Geddoe and can go downstairs to continue the story. Once downstairs, you lose control and find yourself with the others, discussing a journey to speak with the Lizard Clan about the Fire Bringer. You once more gain control outside. Ace, Joker, Jacques, and Queen join your party. When you leave the city, Ace reminisces about being a former mercenary under Gilbert (S2). The places now open to you are Vinay del Zexay, Zexen Forest, Brass Castle East, West, and Interior, Yaza Plain, and the Great Hollow.

Zexen Forest:

You must go through here to get to your destination. If you have not already played [H1], you may encounter Fred and Rico looking for information on Evil Knights. You will be given two choices in that case:

I have no idea.
(Fred and Rico thank you and head off)
To the North there are rumors.
(Fred and Rico run off in a hurry, believing you), [H1a]

Once out of the Forest, to continue the story, head towards the Yaza Plain.

Yaza Plain:

You have the choice of going West or North here. West is a dead end for now. North leads to the Great Hollow, your destination.

Great Hollow Exterior:

Upon arrival at the Great Hollow, you are challenged by several Lizard Warriors. Geddoe smoothes things over and Shiba takes your group inside. You once more have control of Geddoe and full access to the Great Hollow.

Great Hollow:

Shiba will lead you towards the Chief's room by going up the East Ramp inside. He will stop at the bottom of the ramp, at the top of the ramp, then once more in front of the Chief's Room. If you wander away, and want to continue the story, simply find Shiba and it will pick back up. Once at the Chief's Room, Geddoe will be taken inside for a private discussion while the others are insulted and forced to remain out in the main hollow. When next Geddoe emerges, Ace will be finishing up a story which everyone but Jacques will be criticizing. Once you regain control of the group, the next spot to continue the story will be at the bottom of the Eastern Ramp, where three Lizards converse about intruders. They will run down a tunnel there. To continue, you need to follow them.

The Lizards turn on you and attack. If you win or lose this battle, Shiba will come stop it after the second round. He will then explain that the Lizards are under attack and temporarily join your party. You will see the other Lizards run off down the tunnel. Follow them into an open area with two more tunnels leading off. They will go into the far west tunnel. If you attempt to go into the closer tunnel, Shiba will stop you. Going down the far west tunnel will continue the story.

Great Hollow Tunnels:

This is an area where you can get into fights. To continue the story, follow it to the very end and pass into the lighted outside.

Outside you will see Lizard Fighters, sprawled unconscious on the ground, along with a group of Zexen Soldiers and Chris. She claims she wants to see how powerful the greatest of the six clans is. Shiba claims that is a statement of war. Chris continues to insult Shiba, and the Lizard demands a fight. Geddoe tries to stop the battle and is thrown into an unavoidable "Boss Battle" [04f] with Chris and five Soldiers, which can have two different results: When Knights Attack [G1a].

Win or lose, you will now be in the Middle Tunnel, right in front of the Tunnel's exit. Ace can't figure out why attacked right before the treaty. Jacques claims the soldier's tracks were too light. Queen interrupts to say there's a commotion by the Chief's room. You may SAVE at this point. To continue the story, go to the Chief's room. You find that someone murdered Chief Zepon during your fight with Chris. The Lizards are getting ready for war. Ace asks if they should try to stop it. Geddoe says they can't reason with them and should visit Lucia of Karaya.

The places now open to you are Vinay del Zexay, Zexen Forest, Brass Castle East, West, and Interior, Yaza Plain, Plain Amur, Karaya Village, and the Great Hollow.

Amur Plains:

Simply cross, fighting as you may. At the end, you will see a Journeyman Crystal. It is suggested you SAVE, though not required.

Karayan Village:

Once in front of the village, Ace asks Geddoe if he knows anyone. Geddoe says it's possible. Joker ask about a welcome committee. However, Aila attacks, with four Karayan Warriors. Ace tries to soothe her, but accidentally insults her instead. You will need to fight.

If Aila wins, you must start over at the last SAVE.

If Aila loses, you see Aila on her knees, and she demands to know who you are. Ace insults her again by accident. Before she can do anything, Jimba stops her.

If it's a draw, Jimba stops fight after third round. Backhanded compliments pass between Aila and Queen.

Jimba tells Aila that Geddoe is his guest. Geddoe tries to explain why he didn't tell her, but Aila, insulted, gets mad and run off. Jimba says most of the warriors are away. He invites the group inside. You may go around the village, shopping and SAVE, but to continue the story go to the path in front of Chief Lucia's house (the building with the alrge white ornaments on either side of the door). Geddoe and Jimba go inside, again leaving the rest outside. Ace is not happy; he questions if Geddoe doesn't trust them. Queen says they all thrust each other. Joker says Geddoe has kept secrets from them but has never lied to them. Ace wants to know what's going on anyway. Ace and Joker decide to go for food. Queen is a vegetarian, so she says she'll stay and wait for Geddoe. Jacques is already off elsewhere; Joker mentioning Jacques is always disappearing.

You get control over Ace and Joker.

Go to the front of the village. They watch Aila arguing with an unknown woman. The woman tells her to get everyone out. Aila argues. The woman says "That man has condemned you all to die. He has discovered something that will let him justify a million deaths," but that her weak spirit is not ready yet. She reasserts that they need to get out, as only the village need be sacrificed. The woman does a spell as Karayans run up and Joker say that it's true sorcery. The woman teleports away from Aila. She warn her once again then teleports away completely. Aila is mad, following her "senses". Ace and Joker follow Aila, wanting to talk to that woman.

Plain Amur:

On the plains, you see Aila kneeling down, feeling the grouns and "sensing" magic energy. She suddenly runs again. Ace and Joker are still following, going off to the right. Aila is seen "sensing" again. The pair catch up to Aila. After a brief conference, the young woman runs off and Ace and Joker follow her again, chasing Aila. If at any time you try to leave the plains, Joker stops Ace.

Karayan Village:

The scene suddenly changes back to Chief Lucia's house. Jimba greets Geddoe, saying he thought the Grasslands were cursed land to Geddoe. He replies "I wonder." Then he tells Jimba that they're tracking down the Fire Bringer. That there were rumors about them. He mentions about Zepon's assassination, too. A Karayan fighter runs in, interrupting. Jimba hurries out. Queen slips in, warning of signs of trouble. She says they should go out. Geddoe agrees.

Ancient Highway:

Again the scene switches. Aila is confronting the woman at a set of large slabs of stone. They discuss magic and spirits. The woman says at least Aila was spared. A (Man In Black) MIB and a (Man In White Coat) MIC appear. MIC chastises the woman, calling her Sarah. MIB attacks Aila, but Ace and Joker save her with a flash of fire, pulling her off, running. MIB looks impressed.

Plain of Amur:

Aila is upset. Ace yells at her, warning her about MIB being evil and dangerous. Joker, hwoever, is watch smoke rise from the direction of Karaya Village. He lets the other two know and they decide to go to the Village. Aila joins the party. You can SAVE at the Journeyman Crystal before you return to Karaya. Once on the Map Screen, you can go back into the Plains if don't go into the Village. To continue the story, go to the Village.

Karaya Village:

The scene again shifts to Geddoe and Queen, giving you a chance to change their formation (seperating them, or so). Once the formation of the two is decided, you see fighting across Karayan Village. Queen says they should leave. Geddoe says she's right. A Blond-haired Zexen Knight (Borus) is riding through the Village. There is more destruction seen. Queen's upset. You are given a choice:

I have an inkling.
(Geddoe figures out the blond is Borus, and decides to fight him.) [G1b]
We shouldn't get involved.
(Agree to run. Queen leaves a sign for the others. Geddoe blocks Borus as Queen passes. She lets off a smoke-grenade. They run as a hail of arrows block Borus from following.)

Whether you fight or no, Geddoe and Queen end up on a rise above Karayan Village. Queen comments on all the fighting. Geddoe agrees with her assessment. Queen is puzzled by the behavior of the Knights, saying that they're a lot more violent. Geddoe doesn't know why. She asks if Geddoe is holding back. He makes no comment. Queen says that she doesn't expect an answer; she says they trust and depend on Geddoe. Geddoe says he's sorry. Ace shows up with Joker and Aila at that point. There is a comment on the fighting, and Ace says Aila is nuts. That she charged the knights and he had to pull her off. Ace then asks after Jacques. As if on cue, Jacques shows saying he was hunting a rabbit, but mayhem scared it away.

Karaya Village (Ruins):

The scene switches to morning. Ace says the knights are gone. Joker asks where they will go. Queen names the other four clans, but wants to go to Caleria for information, first.

Let's head back to Caleria.
(Ace and Joker exchange nasty comments about drinking and spending the funds on women.)
"......"
(Queen asks if they would rather look for survivors.)

Queen asks Aila if she'll go, too. Aila asks if they'll find Sarah, whom Ace explains about to the others. Queen thoughtfully comments "It couldn't be." Geddoe challenges Aila, and she accepts and joins the group. Ace asks about the expenses for Aila. Jacques offers his share and Ace accepts. Queen gets mad, but Ace says it was a joke.

The places now open to you are Vinay del Zexay, Zexen Forest, Brass Castle East, West, and Interior, Yaza Plain, Plain Amur, Karaya Village, the Great Hollow, Mountain Path, Mt. Hei-Tou, Caleria, and Lake Castle. If you go to Lake Castle now, you can begin recruiting people, as well as getting a cutscene: Mountain Bandits vs. Mercenaries (Part One) [G1c].

Mountain Path:

When you wish to continue the story, go up the Mountain Path until you get to the Area Boss (Twin-Head) [04d]. After defeating it, Ace mentions it will be back soon. Aila asks how to get to Caleria. Joker says East and that North goes to Le Buque, but they don't need to go there (It's not open yet). Go east to Caleria.

Caleria:

Enter town. Others talk of Caleria, while Ace asks Aila what's wrong. She complains of the smell. Ace laughs it off. He mentions dropping files off at Head Quarters. Jacques ask about Head Quarters. Ace mentions that Jacques was hired from the outer regions while they'd been out; that he'd never been there. He points out where Defense Force Head Quarters is in Caleria. You get control of Geddoe. (It is advisable to SAVE if you plan to try to recruit Mike [G1e].) You can go to different buildings, leave, etc. If you go past the entrance to Head Quarters, however, Ace says he's going to file his report. Joker claims they'll wait at the Inn. Insults are passed. You lose Ace automatically at this point. You can still do stuff after losing Ace (even leave). To continue the story go to the Inn. Talk ensues with food and drinks (Soda for Aila). Duke and company show up to insult the group. Elaine mentions a relationship with Ace. They talk of the True Rune Hunt. Duke says they'll settle who'se best once and for all.

We already know who's best.
(Duke says Geddoe was just lucky last time.)
Not interested.
(Duke gets upset, mentioning he hates when Geddoe pretends he couldn't care less.)

Duke's group leaves. Ace returns with the same news Duke had. Also that Harmonia is sending punitive forces into the Grasslands. He wonders why everyone wants the Fire Bringer. Geddoe says they should relax a while, but Ace wants to work. Others go to random relaxation and Ace asks Aila what she wants to do. She claims she wants a soda.
