This encounter happens for either Hugo or Geddoe, depending on whose chapter you play first:
Where the paths join once more, you have a chance to encounter Fred and Rico (A Maximillian Knight and his female squire). Fred asks you if you know about "Evil Knights":

You continue on your way through the Zexen Forest.
