Battle Description:
These battles are non-voluntary. You, and your army, fight the opposing army on a large map of circles with dashed lines. The lines mark where a troop may move between circles. The circles are resting stops for platoons. Only platoons from the same army may end their movement on an occupied space. There are several choices you may make during Strategy Battles:
Boots: Movement
:
Lightning Bolt: Rune Attack (distance)
~~~~
Before you start a Strategy Battle, you are sometimes given a choice of changing the troop formation (Chris and Flame Champion Battles). At times you are not, however, given choices (Thomas and Hugo Battles). Geddoe doesn't do any Strategy Battles until the Flame Champion chapters.
When allowed to change formations, you are given a list of available characters for Platoons and Support. Leaders are automatically chosen for you and cannot be switched out. Each platoon contains three slots for troops, one for leader, and one for support. You may choose to go with their suggested arrangement, use the Story VIP selection,w hich apparently combines troops from the same groups (i.e. the Lizards together, the Karayans together, Chris' Knights together, etc.), or clear all choices and put your own combinations together. Leaders may be moved (usually) to any of the four active slots in one platoon, the fifth being available only for Support.
Different characters have different skills they can add to your platoon, such as Rune Magic or Tactical advantages. Following is a list of characters used in battles, which battles you can use them in (depending on recruitment time), and what skills they possess.
