Satria Bima Sakti is an example of a body of work that started out as one thing but ended up as another. Along the way it became Lubisan's way of paying tribute to the men who created the stories that inspired his flights of fancy as a child, George Lucas and the creative team that created the immortal Superman - Siegel & Shuster.
Satria wasn't planned on the onset as a fixed concept. It had begun life as a collection of characters and sketch designs that Lubisan created separately between 1995 and 1997. He decided to assemble them together into a team in honour of the heroes he first saw in a darkened cinema at the age of ten.
"SBS started out as some thing different but ended up as a tribute to the creations of George Lucas and Siegel & Shuster. Their work had an impact - as it must have to everybody else - but more on me because the Superman movie was the first movie I saw with my big brother."

The opening page of Satria Bima Sakti is clearly inspired by the opening sequence from Star Wars. A small craft is being chased by a much bigger one and the distance between the two ships is getting closer.
The smaller craft is piloted by a race of beings known as the Pendita. The ship is carrying an energy being called the Amber Nur. The Pendita are trying to rescue it from the clutches of the Karnis who feed upon the Nur lifeform and use them to power their spacecraft.
Unable to escape the Karnis, the Pendita launch the Amber Nur in an escape pod towards a nearby planet - the Earth. It's at this point that the Superman, influence kicks in.
While all this is happening, on Earth a couple are trying to forget a tragedy. A literature professor and his wife are at their island estate in the South China Sea trying to overcome the miscarriage of their baby.
It is night and the good professor is driving back to the estate villa while his wife sleeps a troubled sleep beside him. At this point the pod carrying the Amber Nur crash lands inches away from the car causing the professor to have a horrific accident.
The Amber Nur, seeing the damage its done, decides to make amends and enters the unconcious body of the professor's wife. Nine months later the wife gives birth to seven children.
These aren't normal kids and as they grow older they start exhibiting super powers that will come into maturity when they all turn twenty. This is an age the siblings may never reach as they are pursued by the Karnis and their allies.
