Time & Date
In
Meσoγeóiκa, typically, dates are written and said in the
following order: day of weak, day of month, month and year. "Saturday 5th
of September 1981" would be the correct order in Μeσoγeóiκa. The day of
the month, in this case 5th, is always in the ordinal form and
feminine in gender because the word "Iμéρa," which means day, is
feminine. The month is always in the genitive case and the case of the year and day is
always in the accusative case, since it is a definite time and masculine in
gender because of the word "Ánno," which means year, is masculine.
The year is written and said as if it were a number. Therefore, the date above
would be written in Meσoγeóiκa as:
(Λo) Σáβaτon κinκuéσiμan (λoς) Σeπτéμvρìoς (λoφ) μiλλonoβoκenτoχτanτúnoφ
These are expression are
ones which refer to time. Examples are
“on Tuesday,” in the morning” and “in 1999”.
Some examples in Meσoγeóiκa are below.
"on +day/date" is
translated to "ad λam ~m"
"in
month/year/season/centaury" is translated to "en/ad λam ~m"
To tell the time in
Meσoγeóiκa, you must know what an analogue watch looks like. If
the minute hand is between 1 and 6 than you use the word "ce." From 6 to 12 one must use
the word "πaρá." If the minute hand is on 12 or on 6 it is different. On 12 it
is "X Óρa" while on 6 it will be "xοdéμa," where x represents a number, Óρa" means hour, and "déμa"
means half.
The time must always be said in the order of hours, minutes. All numbers are in the feminine gender as hour and minutes are feminine in Meσoγeóiκa. For example:
12:40-úna πaρá dùánτaθ (twenty to one)
1:20- úna ce dùánτaθ (twenty past one)
1:15- úna ce κuaττρiéμaθ (quarter
past one)
1:45- úna πaρá κuaττρiéμaθ (quarter to
one)
1:30-unodéμa (one
half)
The time where the minute hand
is between 4 and 6 or 6 and 8 on the analogue watch can be said by using 6 as
the base.
1:20- unodéμa πaρá δéκaθ (
1:40- unodéμa ce δéκaθ (ten past
