This large kindom has a long history as one of the first to develop from the ruins of the ancient Ruglund Empire. And in fact the residents of these lands where one of the first to rebel agains the Ruglund Empire over 1,600 years ago. The present kingdom has a fairly stable government, but minor squabbles do erupt every few years between the minor nobles. While this kingdom covers a huge area, much of this area is still wild, and thus is not settled by humans. But even then the population is one of the largest of any kingdom west of the Grey Mountains.

The relatively large military force that the king keeps active is used to protect teh famrs and travelers near the edges of the small kingdom from the bandits and wild creatures that abound in the thick wilderness surround them.

With half of it's borders set along the edge of the wilderness woodlands to the north, the military is kept quite busy dealing with various brigands and humanoid tribes that live within the deep virgin woodlands to the north and east. Problems frequently spring up around the village of Rolling Meadows, due to their close proximity to the wild lands, and the logging that goes on there, slowly but constantly pushing back the woodlands which stretch unbroken for hundreds of miles to the north.

They had been defeated by the Ruglund Empire long ago, but where one of the first people to rise up against the Empire when it started to decline. They are some of the best horsemen in the known world, as well as raising some of the best steeds. They rely on herd animals for their livelyhood and needs. They are also well known for two different breeds of dogs that they use extensively for herding their animals. One is a very short legged, but fast and intelligent breed that is used for the smaller herd animals, and the other is a larger, long haired breed that also shows much intelligence and is nearly fearless.

The Five Shires
World Map secion(s): F3

Government: Each of the Shires has an elected council of 5 Aldermen, and one Rief.  Each of these Reifs then serves on the Upper Council and elects from their former members a Thane who acts as the head of the Five Shires.  Elections are held every five years at the Spring Equinox.  In recent times term limits have been imposed as follows: 6 terms as Alderman, 4 terms as a Rief, and 3 terms as a Thane that any one citizen can serve.  These positions are all voluntary (no pay), all taxes raised are used solely for infrastructure and military costs.  Each shires has a standing militia of 100 and a reserve militia of 300 to 500 additional people.  Each Shire`s Rief serves as the primary law enforcement agent for the particular Shire.

The five shires cover about 3,700 square miles of cleared rolling hills, surrounded on all sides by thick forests. With only three roads into and out of the shires, the people of these quiet lands see very little of outsiders except for occasional trade caravans that carry away the wealth of agricultural products that the rich soil allows them to grow. The entire area is drained by a single river system which flows into the Idyvan Sea about 100 miles through the woodlands to the east thus there is little trade carried on by water, except with the Idyvernel (lands under the rule of the Idyvan High Council). These lands have been populated primarily by halfling peoples as far back as anyone can remember (even since the beginning of the Isle of Stars keeping track of such things nearly 5,000 years ago.

This small rural village sets on the border of the Forbidden Plains and at a fork in the Ruglund River. This is the only city on the entire eastern continent that is north of the White Mountains. Situated on the Dregenbourghen river, 27 miles south of the northern coast of the continent. Visited by very few people or traders, due to it's remote location, with the only road connecting it to the other lands of the continent running through the mountains and for hundreds of miles through wilderness to the Five Shires to the south. A few ships will visit the city during the summer months (when the Frozen Waters are not in the grips of ice), but they are few and far between due to the harsh Sea of Storms that lies to the west of the western continent that they must pass through to reach the Frozen Waters. However the few traders that are willing to brave the distance and harsh conditions see considerable profits (if they make it through) from these trips.

Population: Grenzal:90% Common Men:9% Others:1%

Grenzal Trade Center, Metal Products, Ceramics, Gems, Grains, Ail, Tin, Iron.
pop: 2,800 (6,400) [500]

This is the primary place of residence of the very few Grenzal people in the world. They have lived in this area as far back as any historian can trace. A very large fortress was built over a milenia ago into the natural solid stone arch that connects the Grenzal homeland to the mainland. From this fortress the Grenzal control shipping through the channel here (a small toll must be paid by all ships passing beneith the arch, or the ship is sunk by means of boulders and flaming balista dropped or shot from above). Some ships captains prefer to go around the large quasi-island, while others would just assume pay the toll and then be able to put into port at the small city for supplies. The fact that this small city is the only easily accessible port city for nearly 1,000 miles in either direction along the coast.

Government: Feudal Monarchy
Population: Common Men:30% Mixed Men:65% Others:5%

Nestor- Trade Center, Silver, Grains, Fish, Religious Center
pop:900 (3,600) [250]

Nestor is the local center of Druidical learning and ceremonies (in reality it is within the Nestor Woods across the large Nestor Bay, which is not actually part of the kingdom, but that is a moot point). This is also a trade center through which the goods of many of the small kingdoms in the area pass through. Even though it is a very small kingdom (only covering about 200 square miles under the direct rule of the king), At one time it had been a sizeable kingdom at about 1,200 square miles, but when an uprising occured in Twin Rivers, about 500 square miles of the kingdom had split away, and another 500 had been re-claimed by the Grey Elves that resided in the old Nestor woods where the ruins of the old city of Nestor have stood empty for nearly 1,000 years after a fire swept through the entire city during a freak extremely violent thunderstorm (the rumor is that there was magic involved in it, due to the way the fire swept through the city so fast even with the torrential rains that were coming down). It is an economically strong area, even after all this.

Quarst Kingdom
World Map secion(s): F5

Government: Feudal Monarchy (ruled by Prince Vlaiston Quarst, due to his father being very sick at the moment)
Population: Common Men:40% Mixed Men:40% High Men:15% Others:5%

Quarst- Pottery, Ceramics, Fish, Grains, Salt
pop: 600 (2,500) [250]

This tiny kingdom has been going through a lot in recent years. The king had fallen from his horse during a hunt several years earlier, and has never fully recovered. His son the prince had taken over at a young age of 14, when one of the comanders of the small military force tried to sieze control, but the commander was captured and executed for treason. The young prince rules with a fair hand, but does have a lot to learn yet. After having ruled the kingdom for the past 4 years with very little guidance from his sickly father, and his mother having died when he was very young, he has had a rough time of it.

Holkton- Sheep, Wool, Goats, Cattle, Horses, Leather, Cheese
pop: 500 (2,600) [250]

This remote Duchy is nearly surrounded by wilderness, with the only open lands being the Polgis Kingdom to the south. It covers about 800 square miles, and is famous for it's widely varying cheese products. When the old Ruglund Empire was still in existence, several of the Emperors had maintained a small "Summer Palace" near this tiny village. This "small" palace is now only ruins, with the local farmers cattle grazing in the lands surrounding it (there is one farmer who has claimed the palace as his own, utilizing the stables and living above them, but he has not been able to maintain any of the other buildings of the fortress). The present ruler has a small keep set at the fork of the Ruglund River that the town sits at.

Sibbicai- Trade Center, Metal Products, Glass, Ceramics, Spices, Dyes, Herbs, Furs, Leather Prouducts.
pop: 3,800 ??? (21,550 ???) [1,800 ???]

This 6,000 square mile penninsula that sticks out into the northern portion of Clearwater Lake is the homeland and primary place of residence of the Sibbicai peoples. They are a very reclusive race, to the point of not allowing anyone visiting by ship to leave the docks and enter the city walls, or to travel into the lands beyond. It is rumored that they also heavily patrol the north-eastern border to keep out intruders (although it is more likely the case that they are just trying to protect themselves from the every present raiders of the Goblin Woods to the north and east of them. The only non-Sibbicai that are ever reported to have been able to set foot within the Sibbicai lands and where allowed to return have been a few of the higher ranking members of the Druidical Order, as this is the "Official Religion" of the Sibbicai people (although it is know that there are a fair number who`s beliefs actually fall under some of the other prominent religions of the world). The Sibbicai also have a very large mercenary army that they "hire out" to rulers who are willing to pay the high price for such disciplined and skilled soldiers on a short term basis. A small contigent of the the Sibbicai military also serves as the "Sacred Guard" upon the Sacred Isle that is the center of Druidical activity within the world (which is also located in the northern portion of Clearwater Lake).

They do put into port and carry on trade with the Archendurn Kingdom at both Randsled and at Crystal Landing, as well as with the tiny and remote kingdoms that line the south and east edges of the lake, such as Sclordrach, Knastin, Havilend, and of cource the Sibbicai peoples of the Sibbicai Peninsula at the other end of Clearwater Lake.

This small kingdom had been part of the Nestor Kingdom untill about 200 years ago, when the (then) king of Nestor decided to double the taxes on the people of this small town (it is now known that he had wanted to increase the taxes half again (as in by 50%), but the scribe had written it down wrong so when it was recieved by the tax collector in Twin Rivers, he doubled the taxes, wich led to an uprising, in which the people broke away from his rule and apointed a new ruler, who's decendant now sits on the throne of the lands. His first born later became king and managed to talk the people of South Nestor to join him and break away from Nestor, which they did. They were supported by the elves who at the time where trying to drive the Druids from their homeland of the Nestor Woods and also wanted to push back control of Nestor from their woods. Within a couple of years the Druids and the elves worked out their differences. But by this time Nestor was down to half of it's original size. The Twin Rivers kingdom only covers about 500 square miles along the south-west shore of Nestor Bay.

There have been numerous plots by the neighboring rulers to try to bring the town under their control, but the residence have resisted this, and are willing to fight for their freedom (as can be seen by the number of reserve militia members above). The people of these lands have enjoyed a high standard of living due to their exporting of high quality spices, drink, and fish.

This sizable kingdom is one of the few that carries on trade with the Grenzal peoples. It is very remote, and as such does not get many visitors. The biggest worry of the people who reside in the kingdom is the regular attacks from the Goblin Woods that nearly surround the kingdom, which is obviously populated by the more shadowy races such as Goblins, Orcs, Trolls, Ogres, and a few barbaric human groups.

This tiny democracy surrounds a fairly good sized lake, but the vast majority of it`s people live around the south shore of the lake set in the middle of a large woods. The residents do not keep a standing army due to being sandwiched between two large and friendly kingdoms (Archendurn to the east, and Bornheld to the west), but do have a militia that can be rallied very quickly if needed. This militia does get called into action on occasion though due to the wild lands to the north which are sparcely populated by such creatures as Goblins, Orcs, and other less friendly races.
