Welcome to theAernth Commerce Page

I have not had the opportunity to place much of the information here yet, so please check back later to see what (if any) progress has been made.
This page will eventually contain information relating to the coinage system that is used in the fantasy world setting of Aernth, as well as general price ranges for most items and services available.

Coinage of the Channel Region

After reading over the descriptions of the cities, you may have noticed the coinage designations, I will describe the dominant coinage system within my world (which is modeled (very loosly) after some historical coinage systems in Europe during the Dark Ages), and which more closely mimics the values of the precious metals used for coinage. This is a run-down of the system, conversions between each type and between the standard Rolemaster coinage system, as follows:

Coin Type Equivalence / RM Equivalence
Coin Name Coin Symbol Equivalence Weight of Coin RM/RMSS Equiv. D20 Equiv. *
Copper Piece Cp 1/8 of a Copper Coin (sometimes cut into eighths from the coin type from which it comes, thus a 1/4 Cc is the equivalent of 2 Cp 1/16 oz. 1.25 tp 3 cp
Copper Coin Cc 1 Cc=8 Cp 1/2 oz. 1 cp 2.4 sp
Silver Piece Sp 1Sp=100Cp , 1Sp=12.5Cc 1/16 oz. 1.25 bp 3 gp
Silver Coin Sc 1Sc=8Sp , 1Sc=100Cc 1/2 oz. 1 sp 24 gp
Gold Piece Gp 1Gp=100Sp , 1Gp=12.5Sp 1/32 oz. 1.25 gp 30 pp
Gold Coin Gc 1Gc=8Gp , 1Gc=100Sc 1/4 oz. 1 pp 240 pp
Mithril Piece Mp 1Mp=100Gp , 1Mp=12.5Gp 1/32 oz. 1.25 mp 3,000 pp
Mithril Coin Mc 1Mc=8Pp , 1Mc=100Gc 1/4 oz. 10 mp 24,000 pp

* As can be seen, the D20 system is a little skewed and out of whack when it comes to their coinage system. After all gold is supposed to be vaulable, but when you can buy half a score of crossbow bolts for one or a small dagger for 2 gp, then gp's don't appear to be worth much at all???

Yes, at first glance this system is a little confusing, but once you get used to it, it works well. Also note that within this fantasy setting these coins are rare, and most common peoples don't possess them in large enough numbers to utilize them on a regular basis, thus most items are actually paid for through the bartering of other goods or services. Also I encourage haggling within this gaming world (thus prices are not set in stone and will vary widely). The variation in the size of the coins is due to variations of in the density of the metals that the coins are made out of to match the weight (Gold coins being the most dense, are also the smallest in size, followed by Silver, and finally Copper.

The following is a list of items and services (this list is not all-inclusive) with prices based on quality of the item or service and their origin. The base price listed is for typical or standard quality items in or near the area of origin. The "Notes:" section of each listing will describe any price variations that are common based on differing quality or locations other than place of origin.

All prices subject to change!
