Aaardvarks Coblers Mondays Spring2004

Hello its only me George Clarke I'd like to add a couple of brilliant reviews. To this page but the only review I ever got was in Stirrings. You know the South Yorkshires Folk Magazine it was a really good review but they did not know my name. Still I know that it was me and it was Ray Padget who pointed it out to me. It was his club that I had being reviewed at.

I'm best know in the West Riding as the main distributor of Tykes News. I have lost count of how long I have been doing my bit for the Tyke's but I like to think that I have put more than a little bit back to keep the local Music Scene alive and Kicking!

I am also, though by default, the president of the West Riding Night Visitors Revivalist Society. This society has gone from strength to strength completely taking over from Morris Dancing in Leeds. We have managed to keep costs to an absolute minimum yet again this year with the membership charges starting at only 4p for women and only 63 pounds and 47 pence for men. Our Members are on the up and despite a set backs in North Yorkshire with an over enthusiastic female member Bungee Jumping from her bedroom window. But Joe seems to have got Maureen to calm down having confiscated her spare Knicker elastic.

George continues to add sailors song and Shanties to his repertoire that have been passed down to him from the singing of his Grandma. His Grandma apparently went to sea in search of his grandfather who had run off to Canada to become a Lumber Jack. He told her he was just going to the off licence. At first she was going to emigrate to Australia but having made a small error on the emigration papers ( Do you have a criminal record?
Answer I didn't know you still needed one!) His Grandma signed on as Female Cabin Boy and worked her way up to Female Ships Shanty Man.
She gave George a genuine Gypsy Violin to accompany his songs with fortunately he usual accompanies him self on Guitar as the Gypsy Violin does not sound too good being made from old clothes pegs.

"His songs and monologues are a delight for
audiences large and small".
