Aaardvarks Coblers Mondays Spring2004

After several years of wending it's way around the East Side of Whitby, by way of The Middle Earth, Black Horse and the Fleece, Whitby Folk Club  has
returned to its ancestral home in
The Plough, Baxtergate.
The club now meets most regularly in the back downstairs room so well known and beloved by Folkies in Folk Week.
We've had two or three sourjons upstairs, notably when we had the Shetland duo Solan, Devon's Tom and Barbara Brown and the fine singer/guitarist
Duncan McFarlane as guests.
We have the odd raffle and take a collection or two during the summer months, and tend to book the odd guest or two in the quieter winter months.
In June 2002 we held the club on board of the Grand Turk a 152-ft replica
18th century Man-o- War when it visited the Port of Whitby. What a night that was to remember with both the upper and lower decks ringing with music and song until the early hours of Thursday morn. This event was repeated in 2003 when the three mast square rigged frigate returned to Whitby.
This has now become an annual event (see below).
The club meets every Wednesday @ 8-30 pm and is still basically run as a
Sing-a-round with musical interludes. The downstairs room is
wheelchair
and child friendly and non-smoking on Wednesday nights.
Everyone is encouraged to contribute towards the friendly atmosphere, and we are pleased to welcome all friends, holidaymakers old and new to the
PLOUGH any WEDNESDAY you're in WHITBY.
