Feed and Housing
The needs of a Falabella are minimal when compared to those of a standard-sized horse.  For instance, three Falabellas can be fed on the feed of a standard-sized horse. A six to eight foot stall, and even 1/8 of an acre in a pasture with a three-foot tall fence surrounding it is all that is requisite to house the miniature.

Cost
Today in many parts of the world, if a horse's pedigree includes the breed "falabella", the animal's value can increase.   The Falabella sells on size, for the smaller the horse, the more valuable it is.  Typically, prices start around $1500 and can rise as high as $100,000 for a tiny Falabella with an excellent pedigree and temperament.

Associations
The first miniature horse registry started in the United States was the Falabella Miniature Horse Association (FMHA), which was also the first association to register Falabella horses as a breed.   Only Falabellas with an ancestry that can be traced back to the original Falabella breeding stock are permitted to be registered in the FMHA.
