Horse's
Lament
By: Elizabeth Kirkwood |
 |
Racing Scene at Eureka
Downs
One more gallop
One more thrill.
One more rush
Till I get
my fill.
Open countryside
Or closed inside
a ring.
Through the
woods
All the adventures
it will bring.
Yet what if
it was the last gallop
The last time
thrilled.
No more rushes
Empty stomach,
no longer filled.
Enjoy those
moments
Savor the fresh
crisp air
For you never
know when it will all end
For all anybody
cares.
I can no longer
run
I can no longer
play.
Yet I remember
those far off hills
Being ridden
all through the days.
Solitary bliss
to be no more.
