About

Economy

In rural areas such as villages and the surrounding countryside, a common person can make one silver piece a day. This is enough to get by on in such areas where food can be grown to supplement the family. This is not so in Serenity. There is no where to grow food inside the city, so the common folk of Serenity have to make a little more than 1sp. Inside the city walls a common person of little skill can earn up to five silver pieces a day. Common people in Serenity work six out of seven days.

Trained workers, laborers, and professionals can earn one gold or more a day for their services, sometimes earning up to as much as 10 gold a week. The more skilled workers of Serenity might only work five out of seven days a week.

Duelist tend to be paid by the duel. Not every duelist has a duel every week, so they also tend to find other work to augment their income. If they don't duel that week, they don't get paid for dueling that week.

1 gold = 10 silver or 100 copper

Holidays

Pairing Festival ~ This is a week long celebration in which prospective Winged Sentinels pick a partner. The whole city celebrates with dances, feasts, carnivals, and dueling tournaments.

Feast of Bast ~ midnight on the night of the first full moon of summer. This is a pixie holiday, but often times even non-pixie people will join in for the fun.

Summer Solstice ~ This is the longest day of the year. The city of Serenity finds this another good excuse to let a little joy into the city.

Winter Solstice ~ This is the shortest day of the year.

Kihjanne ~ This is a holiday the Kelosh empire brought with it. It is a day in which no duels are allowed. This is a day to remember loved one and to celebrate peace.

Population

Population: 46,906
Full-time guards (Talon Knights): 469

The numbers below were generated using Jamis Buck's Town Generator. I adapted the results to fit Serenity. These numbers are to give you an idea of the population of the city. I grouped the different classes. All those most likely to be duelist are grouped together, though this does not mean they are all duelist. The divine casters are all grouped together, as are the arcane casters.
