AutoWeek magazine - A full 2-page spread on Waldo Stakes and Sonic Wind appeared in the March 31-April 6, 1997 issue of AutoWeek magazine, pages 20-21. On the cover is a headline reading "Land Speed Record Attempt on Ice," and the article is titled "Blade Runner: Could the fastest vehicle on Earth be a sled?" The article is written by Mark Vaughn.
Bonneville Racing News - Sonic Wind and Waldo Stakes have appeared in BRN on numerous occasions, including the Nov/Dec 1995 issue, in which the article is titled "The Ice Man Cometh" and is written by Franklin Ratliff. Waldo also authored an article in the June 1996 issue titled "The Single-Plane Force Streamliner," his concept of the perfect land speed record vehicle.
Desert Blast - Waldo Stakes and Sonic Wind have made appearances test-firing Sonic Wind for several years at Desert Blast, an annual pyrotechnic event held at a dry lakebed outside Las Vegas, Nevada. The event is comprised of hundreds of professional and amateur pyrotechnicians, people involved in motion picture special effects, scientists and others interested and involved in fireworks and technology. Events include professional firework displays, rocket and jet engine tests, movie special effects demos and machine gun demonstrations. Desert Blast is an invitation-only event.
Fast Facts - Waldo Stakes and Sonic Wind have appeared numerous times in Fast Facts, the quarterly newsletter of the Speed Record Club in England. Fast Facts covers all aspects of Speed Record racing, including the Land Speed Record and Water Speed Record. Sonic Wind has appeared in the July 1993 and December 1995 issues.
High Power Rocketry - A four-page article on Ken Mason, Sonic Wind's rocket engineer, appeared in the September/October 1993 issue of High Power Rocketry magazine on pages 43-46. The article is titled "Ken Mason: Rocket Junkie" and was written by George Morgan.
