Q: How much does the rocket engine weigh?

A: 27 pounds.

Q: Won't there be big problems if you break the speed of sound, because of sonic booms cracking or breaking the ice. Is this a concern?

A: Thrust SSC has slightly under 60 square feet of frontal area and weighed 22,600 lbs. according to an article in the Bonneville Racing News. The shock created by a projectile is a product of it's size. Sonic Wind has 2.8 square feet of frontal area and weighs 700 lbs. at Mach 1. So the shock is a fraction of Thrust SSC. Not enough to crack the surface or throw the vehicle into the air.
