Letter to Author

Dear Mr. Barris,
My name is Greg Novick, and I am currently a junior at Schreiber High School. For a school assignment my English teacher assigned a task to read a memoir or a biography, and the book I chose was Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. I chose your book because I had recently seen the movie before the task was assigned, and I was interested to see how the two compared. I really enjoyed the movie, and after finishing the book I was pleased with my choice and I found it very enjoyable as well.
I found your book to be a very interesting and fun story to read. The different stages of your life are unique and sound both very exciting and yet also upsetting. I give you a lot of credit for going on the life threatening missions for the CIA without any experience, and becoming so successful that you were honored by the entire organization. Although, I am a little skeptical about the validity of your record in the CIA because, you stated yourself that Confessions of a Dangerous Mind is an unauthorized autobiography. Nevertheless it is still and interesting and attention grabbing story. Also, I am surprised that you had such a tough time dealing with all of your fame form the Gong Show. I can understand how this sort of thing can be difficult to deal with because you never have your own space, but I am interested to experience it for myself to see how I would react to it. It appears to me that you have a very creative mind, and you inspire me to become successful because you worked hard and was able to build a television empire out of nothing while also living another secretive life for the CIA.
I would like to thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to read my letter. I really enjoyed reading your story, and I am glad I was able to discover what an interesting life you lived. Thanks again.
Sincerely, Greg Novick [email protected]
