Since the beginning of time, life within our society has been improving. As we have approached the 21st century, we have continued to make advances in technology which has resulted with making our world and easier place to live in. As a result of advances in transportation, communication, and our ability to access information, life in the 21st century is better than ever.
One area in which there have been major technological advances is in transportation. Originally in earlier years, people would get around by horse and wagon, or by foot and getting from one place to another would take an extended period of time. It would take months for people to travel across the country, but now as a result of advances in transportation technology it can only take a number of hours. Some examples of advances in technology that have been the most popular and that have continued to improve throughout the 21st century are the automobile, trains, and plains. These new inventions allow people to travel extended distances in a very short period of time. Other advantages of new transportation are that business has greatly benefited. As a result of transportation, businesses have been able to transport goods from one place to another without difficulty. Imports and exports has become a popular source of revenue in the 21st century, and this wouldn�t be possible without the advances in transportation. Although many people frown upon the advances in technology because they create pollution and are very expensive, they have still make our society and easier place to live in.
Another area in which advances of technology resulted with its improvement is communication. Communication has been improved in many ways. Some of these improvements have been the creation of the telephone or cell phone, and computers or email. Originally, messages or information would be sent through writing letters and take forever to be received, but in the 21st sending a letter to someone across the world via email, can be received in a matter of seconds. Email as well as instant messaging and the telephone allows people to have full conversations without even hafting to be in the same room. The cell phone also allows people to have full conversations when they are traveling or on the road, which allows people not to worry about not being able to communicate if they leave their house. Although, there are some disadvantages of these new methods of communication, for example it eliminates face to face contact. Also, writing letters is much more personal than a phone call. Despite these disadvantages, I believe that all people would agree that new methods of communication have made life much easier.
Methods of achieving information have also been greatly improved in the 21st century. As a result of the computer, information has become extremely easy to obtain. Computers allow people to access any sort of information they desire. You can access books and other resources from libraries across the world through computers that only 20 years ago would have been impossible to achieve. Any encyclopedia, journal, letter, or any other source can be easily located with the use of a computer. You can also go shopping over the computer, schedule appointments, make reservations at hotels, by plane tickets, and many more necessary activities that at one time had to be done by leaving your house. Although, you have to be careful with information you receive from computers. You can�t only rely on one source as to be completely factual, it is important that you check multiple sources before you accept this information. But for the most part, computers are a reliable source.
As a result of advances in technology, life in the 21st century is better than ever. Advances in transportation, communication, and ways to access information have made life much easier. As a result of these advantages, people now find themselves with more leisure time, so they can focus on more important issues in their lives such as their family. People can feel less stressed about running errands and more relaxed about traveling. Because of these new methods, society life has greatly improved.
