Blacksburg, may 21 (Special) - Charles Ellet ATKINS, 58, and for some years a prominent farmer and stockman of the Roanoke Valley section of Montgomery county, died suddenly early Tuesday morning at his home in Blacksburg. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the residence, conducted by the pastor of Whisner Memorial Methodist church, Dr. D.T. MERRITT. Burial will be in West View. Mr. ATKINS was the only son of the later Mr. And Mrs. John ATKINS and is survived by his wife, formerly Miss Zora WILLIAMSON, of the Riner community, and one daughter, Miss Louise ATKINS, a member of the nursing staff of the Altamont hospital, Christiansburg. He has many relatives in Giles county of which his parents were natives. His mother died two months ago.

Blacksburg, Sept. 18 (Special) - David LeRoy OLIVER, 25, son of Wiley and Mrs. Irene CAMPER OLIVER of Blacksburg, died late Monday night at a hospital in Christiansburg after a brief illness. Mr. OLIVER, who was a sergeant in the Blacksburg national guard, is survived by his parents and several brothers and sisters. PRIVATE W. T. OLIVER

Word has been received in Blacksburg of the death Thursday in a Phoenix, Arizona, hospital of Private Welford T. OLIVER, with the army air corps stationed at Luke Field. Son of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. OLIVER, of Blacksburg and Charlottesville, Private OLIVER attended Blacksburg high school. He was 26 years old and for the pasy several years had been working in Richmond. Well known known (written that way in the paper) in the Blacksburg section, he enlisted in the air corps at Richmond last July and had not been home since that time. He is also survived by a half-brother, Byron OLIVER, of Charlottesville, and a half-sister, Mrs. Dennis BRADSHAW, of Norfolk. Cause of his death was given as blood disease. He had long been a member of the Blacksburg Lutheran church. Funeral arrangements have not been made. (This is accompanied by a picture of him in uniform. Mrs. Lucille CRAIG OVERSTREET, formerly of Roanoke, died Wednesday in a Danville hospital. Mrs. OVERSTREET moved to Danville from Roanoke about six months ago. She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church and a former staff nurse for the Red Cross regional blood center. Surviving are her husband, Lawrence W. OVERSTREET, her mother, Mrs. Melvina C. CRAIG, Blacksburg; three sisters, Mrs. William P. DAVIS and Mrs. E. Herbert RYAN, both of Blacksburg, and Mrs. Thomas PATSEL, Roanoke. Funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Lotz, conducted by the Rev. J. E. STOCKMAN. Burial will be in Evergreen. Pallbearers will be J. W. CLINGENPEEL, R. N. SIBOLD, O.P. SCHILLING, V. A. ANGELL, GEORGE P. HASH AND HARRY G. ANDERSON.
