Northern Ireland , which is also called Ulster , is as the map above shows , divided into six counties .These counties are Antrim , Armagh , Tyrone , Fermanagh , Londonderry and Down. The county in which I live is Co .Down and most of the photographs on this page are taken in county Down . The town I live in is called Bangor and it is on the North Down coast , at the top of the Ard's peninsula .Click on the link below to read about the history of Bangor .Although the suburbs are stretching out quite a lot presently , the actual town center is still quite small and basically consists of two streets , Main Street and High Street which both run up from the sea front . Bangor has always been one of the major tourist spots in Northern Ireland and I still have vivid memories of all the childhood trips to the seaside at Bangor , which was such a special treat when I was a little girl living outside Belfast .The town remains as one of the most popular resorts here but over the past ten years it has undergone major redevelopment and what used to be a pier and very small beach is now a very prestigious marina , attracting visitors from around the globe .
