2004 Titans
5/18/04 -
Thomas JeffersonTonight we had a chance to make a difference on the season, turn the corner, and make a statement. We got everyone back and we stepped on the field full strength. We named our 22 players last night at dinner that will represent the Titans going forward and into the playoffs. Thanks to the parents and the pre game meal last night we are coming in ready to go. We told them that we needed to mark up and focus on controlling a one Derek Townsend, control the play, win the 50/50, and get to the corners. If we can do that we are in this game. We missed on the first task. Derek was involved in all three of their goals. We dominated the second half, had great shots on goal and just couldn't mange to put the ball in the net. The TJ keeper had to have had his best game of the season, if not his career in the goal. Some players that really stepped up tonight were Dan Gulden, Dan Fisher, Josh Grovensnor, Seth Jackson, and Luke Thompson. We have scored 9 goals all season. In the 13 games this season, we didn't score a goal in 8 of them. The season starts over on Wednesday. On Saturday everyone is 0-0 and we are all equal. We will travel to Sioux City North on Saturday to play Sioux City West at 10am. New season, new time, new beginning. JV went out with a bang however and finished above 500. They finished strong and made a statement hopefully for the beginning of the season next year. I have told everyone from the beginning of the season that my challenge to them is to score at least 6 goals as game. Tonight they scored 6 and also logged their 4th shutout. JV scored tonight off of two set plays and one corner. The others were just hard play. JV goals tonight were by Zach Duysen, Adam Larkin, Brad Stageman had 2 goals, and Evan Summy had two goals. Assists were awarded to James Duysen, Joel Edwards, and Walter Osborn. Great job tonight by the JV. Way to go out strong. |
