Six girls from Cranford and Johnson high schools with ties to the Cranford Soccer Club have made the Newark Star-Ledger's All-Union County Girls Soccer team for the 1998 season.
Katie Sands (CHS), Erica Stewart CHS), and Gabby White (Johnson) took home Second Team honors while Sue Flamini, Devon Murray, and Shannon Murray are on the All-Union First Team.
Sue Flamini
Sue, a two-time All-Union selection is a sophomore at CHS. She had 29 goals (51 for her career) and 30 assists this season. "An endless array of shake-and-bake moves, superior field vision and blazing speed are just a few of the many assets that make Flamini one of the state's best underclassmen. Her dominating play in the midfield keyed a Cranford attack that scored 113 goals."
Devon Murray
Devon is a Senior forward with 30 goals and 14 assists this season. "The county's leading goal scorer displayed her team-first attitude in the state Group 3 semifinals against Ramapo, when she slipped back to play defense at coach Karrie Lambright's request. Murray was one of the catalysts behind Cranford's school-best 19-3 season, which included the program's first section title."
Shannon Murray
Shannon is a CHS Senior who led a defense that had nine shutouts and only allowed 19 goals. "the leader of the Cranford defense, Murray came back from a mid-season ankle injury to lead Cranford's post-season run, which included appearances in the Union County tournament final and the state Group 3 semifinals."
