Live At The Big Premiere Headline:- We're Home Mum. X-Files David in tartan
for gala show By Georgina Reid
"Movie idol
David Duchovny last night revealed he felt he was back home as he took
his mum to the Edinburgh premiere of his new movie.
Duchovny, 38,
turned up for the royal screening of Return To Me in a kilt.
He hasn't been
in Scotland since he was 10 - but celebrated his return by taking mum Meg
Miller to the bash.
X Files star
Duchovny, dressed in his family McFarlane tartan, admitted it was the first
time Aberdeen-born Meg had seen him in a kilt.
He said: "She
is very proud. I am a true Scotsman and yes, I do know exactly what that
means."
The previous
night Duchovny took his mum to dinner with Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles
at Holyrood.
He got pride
of place at the Prince's table, where he sat beside the Moderator of the
Church of Scotland, Andrew McLellan.
Proud - Duchovny
said: "We had a great time. My mum has always made sure I'm proud of my
Scottish roots."
Prince Charles
disappointed the 300-strong crowd at the Odeon cinema when he arrived without
Camilla. Hollywood stars Minnie Driver and Joely Richardson also attended
the screening, which raised funds for the Prince's Trust.
In the romantic
comedy Duchovny's wife dies tragically and he meets and falls in love with
minnie.
They later
discover Minnie's life was saved when she recieved his wife's heart.
Duchovny, who
has just agreed a new deal to stay in the X files, revealed his pal George
Clooney tipped him off about the role during a flight from New York to
L.A.
Return To Me
was written and directed by Duchovny's long-time mate Bonnie Hunt.
He said: "As
soon as I read it I knew it was very beautiful, heartfelt and sentimental
story."
Stunning Minnie
stole the show at the premiere in a dazzling, fitted emerald dress.
She said: "I
love it in Scotland and Prince Charles is so nice. I don't think people
realise what a warm person he is."
Minnie was
reluctant to talk about her turbulent romances, including being dumped
by film hunk Matt Damon.
Crying - But
she admitted researching her role was a tear-jerker.
She said: "I
met five very exceptional women who had had transplants. They undergo this
bizarre change between joy and grief, incredible guilt and incredible gratitude.
"It made me
cry a lot even before we started filming."
