LOGLINE:

In a town built on misfortune, anything that can go wrong probably will. So when Las Vegas' most notorious loan shark falls ill, and must entrust his business into the hands of his employees for the day, trouble is almost a guarentee

SELECTED SCENE:

INT.  DINER - NIGHT.

The Waitress brings Joey and V their food.  Joey puts the palm pilot computer back into his coat pocket, and begins eating his tuna melt.
V drinks his coffee while maintaining his stare at the Driver who stares right back at him.  The Waitress leaves them to eat their food.
Across the room, still staring directly into V�s eyes with a look that would damn Saint Peter, the Driver of the BMW finishes his meal.  He gets up from his table and goes to pay his bill, still staring.  The Driver walks out of the diner.
V is about to get up when Joey prevents him from it with a question.

JOEY
(with a mouthful of tuna melt)
So if this bunny has the cash to be staying in the penthouse of the Hilton; why the hell doesn�t he just pay the boss his money?

He takes a swig of milk.

JOEY (CONT'D)
I mean the penthouse suite must cost almost that much for a week�s stay.

V
Huh?  Well I don�t know.  Maybe he�s just an asshole.

Through the window we watch the Driver get into his BMW and just sit there and stare at the booth that V and Joey are sitting in.
V looks outside and sees the driver sitting behind the wheel, gawking at them.

V (CONT'D)
Awe would you look at this shit.  This mother fucker thinks he�s a real tough guy.

He gets no response from Joey, who is finishing up the last bites of his tuna melt.

V (CONT'D)
Dat�s it, I�ll be right back.

V gets up from the booth and walks out the front door.  Joey watches him leave with part curiosity, part amusement.  Once V is outside, Joey returns his attention back to the last little bite of tuna melt he has left.
In the background, outside, we see V walk up to the BMW, and motion for the Driver to roll down his window.  The two of them begin to exchange harsh words that we can not hear due to the pane of glass that separates them from us.
Joey finishes his sandwich and milk.  The waitress walks over to the booth.

WAITRESS
And how was your meal Sir?

JOEY
Divine, it was just divine.  Thank you very much.

In the background, V leans on the roof of the car, and in towards the window.  He is spitting profanities into the Driver�s face.

WAITRESS
Can I get you anything else?

JOEY
You know I would really love another glass of milk.

V reaches into the BMW and backhands the driver across the face.

WAITRESS
That can be arranged.

V backhands the Driver for the second time.

JOEY
And I see you have fresh pies over there.  You wouldn�t happen to have apple pie would you?

V backhands the Driver a third time, and a fourth. V tries to open the door of the BMW, but the Driver struggles to keep the door shut and locked.

WAITRESS
As a matter of fact we have one that just came out of the oven...still warm.

V manages to pry open the door of the BMW.  The Driver doesn�t quite know what to do.  V again places both hands on the roof of the BMW.  Then without warning, V lifts his right leg and begins kicking the Driver who can not move because he is seat belted into place.
V uses all the leverage he can get by grabbing onto the roof of the car to kick the Driver, who is rapidly losing consciousness.
V unbuckles the semi-conscious Driver, and the Driver falls half way out of the open car door, and out of our view.

JOEY
I�ll take a slice of that. But with a thick slice of cheddar cheese please.  Vanilla ice cream is good, but nothing goes better on a slice of warm apple pie like a big slice of cheese.

V slams the car door shut several times, presumably on the Driver�s head.  He then abruptly stops what he is doing, like a man coming out of a trance.

WAITRESS
I couldn�t agree more.  I�ll be right back.

V dusts himself off, and composes himself.  Then he walks towards the front door.

JOEY
Thank you.

The waitress heads back toward the kitchen.  Joey glances out of the window with half-interest at the BMW with its door slightly ajar.
V walks back in through the front door, and over to the booth.  He is breathing heavy, but otherwise pretends like nothing ever happened.  He sits down and takes a sip of his coffee.

V
(with a big sigh)
Ready to go?

JOEY
(nonchalantly)
I ordered pie.

V
(brightening up a bit)
With cheese?

From the kitchen, a large, greasy CHEF leans out.

CHEF
Order�s up!

The chef hits the small hand bell that is on the counter.
