Joe Bashir, the proprietor has been in business for 27 years.
He grew up in the Byron Shire area ans saw its expansion to what it is now. Because he knows the area so well , Joe has the best contacts with the farmers.His uncle is one of them, Joe started his apprenticeship with him on the farm. The five years he spent working with his uncle Bob as a farmer gave him the knowledge and the taste of good vegetables. He found his passion and never gave it up since!
At 22 years of age, he decided to start his own business. His uncle Bob helped him settling it up. He first was selling vegetables on the local markets, that's how he got to create his first group of loyal customers.
People in the area are after the best quality vegetables at a good price, that's the reason why Joe's business began to grow.
He started with a stall on the markets, and slowly emerged towards the restaurants and other take aways business. This move made his little enterprise grow, so he decided to open a shop.
Joe and Bob went on the hunt for a good spot. Their aim was to keep the customers happy, so it was essential to stay in the area, and the centre of it, which was Byron Bay. So they did.
That's how "Joe's Fruit & Vege" found it's place right in the centre of town on Fletcher Street. Because he wanted to keep on working with the local markets and run the new shop at the same time, he had to employ staff. So Gary, Jasmine and Peter started at the shop.
Stuey is in charge of the markets organising. Mandy takes care of the customer service, and Beaver does the deliveries. More information about them is detailed on the Staff page.
Because Joe focuses mostly on the good quality of his products he trained his new staff so they aim towards the same goal of perfection. Everyone at Joe's works with a passion and the customers can feel it.
Joe has now decided to make his business available online ainly as a new service for his customers. They can see the Specials of the Day, they have an overview of all the products available in the shop and they can make orders online.
