.: SAMSUNG E900 MODDING :.

.: Installing E900 Patches and Firmware :.

This is a guide showing how to flash new firmware and install .s3 patches for use on the Samsung E900. The firmware I have used in the guide is E900XEFG2, although the process is the same for all firmware. The program used, Optiflash, can be downloaded from the link on the Software page.

Installing these invalidates your warranty and has no guarantee to work. Installing these could permanently damage your phone, and I will not be held responsible for any damages causes to your PC or phone or data losses occurred.

  1. Flashing your phone may cause photos/music/files etc and web/message settings to be erased. Therefore, as a precaution, backing up these items before flashing, is recommended. This can be done using the Samsung PC Studio; the software which comes with the phone.

  2. First, take out your SIM card and your memory card (Micro SD) and replace the battery. This is very important as leaving the SIM card or the memory card in causes the firmware to not flash correctly.

  3. Connect your phone to the USB cable. Press & Hold down * then press power button once. Do not let your phone turn on, but allow your PC to detect the phone.

  4. Open Device Manager and under 'Ports (COM & LPT)' should be 'SAMSUNG Mobile USB Port'. Make note of the port number, here it is COM 3.

  5.

  6. Load Optiflash
  7. Go to Options -> Settings
  8. Go to the 'Generic' tab and Select 'Customer T: D830/D840/E900 (USB)'. Now make sure 'Differences Only' is only ticked and make sure all other options are as follows:
  9. Go to 'COM Port'. This is where you will need the COM port number noted from earlier. Select the corresponding COM port from the drop down list.
  10. Go to 'Flash and Verify' tab and click browse. Open your .s3 file (either the firmware or a patch).

  11. Go to 'Default Contents' tab. Now if you are flashing a firmware and have a file *.cts with the firmware, select radio button 'S-Record with Contents' and click Browse to select your *.cts file. Else, if you are flashing a patch or don't have a *.cts file, the make sure 'S-Record only' is ticked.

  12. Click OK.

  13. Now just make sure the file in the drop down list is the correct one, and click flash. Do not touch your phone, or close the program. Any disturbances to this may cause the program to flash incorrectly and damage your phone.
  14. The flash procedure will be finished when the message 'All is well' appears on screen. With small patches, this only takes 3-4 seconds, but with full firmware flashes this takes around 17 mins. Your phone should self power on and your now done.

Note: When flashing firmware, if your phone restarts in a different language, use this process to open the Language Selection:

MENU (left touch button) > SETTINGS (bottom right icon) > PHONE SETTINGS (2nd option) > LANGUAGE (1st option)

Also, a full reset should not be necessary when flashing firmware, however, if you want to do it: Type *2767*3855# then wait one full minute before you restart your phone.
