Finding Patient Information for ROMAC
If a Rotarian is visiting another country or a friend of a Rotarian approached
you to assist a child then, these are the steps one has to take:
- Speak to the patient, find out the guardian/s and speak to the guardian
and obtain information as possible as per the Referral Form. The guardian
may give you more information than what we are requesting, which will definitely
be beneficial for ROMAC. More information you have and more contact details
you have the better it is.
- Obtain a complete medical history of the child as best as one can get. Try
and find out the names and contact details of doctors or hospitals that had
treated the child.
- Obtain or take photos from all appropriate angles and one facing the camera
for identification purposes.
- Establish from a local doctor whether the child meets ROMAC criteria, that
is the case cannot be helped in their own country due to lack of medical facilities.
- Find out whether country has Rotary presence, if so the name of the Rotary
Club closest to the address of the patient, or any church or religious organization
who would be able to communicate with the patient and help ROMAC to follow
up with the inquiry. You may have to get the name and addresses and phone
numbers of the contacts that would be willing to help us to follow the case
in that country.
- Be aware that we cannot help a child who is an orphan. (Immigration requirement).
- Be aware that we cannot help a child that some other person or organization
has already brought to Australia.
- Most of all make no promises before consultation with the Board's Operations
Director.
PLEASE NOTE THAT ROMAC ONLY TREATS CHILDREN WHO
ARE
15 YEARS AND BELOW
