Rangers (2001)

Cast:Matt McCoy, Glenn Plummer, Corbin Bernsen

Matt McCoy stars as a commando who leads a group of rangers, however when his best friend is left behind, McCoy finds out that a conspiracy is in the works, also Plummer is very much alive and looking for vengeance , after convincing his friend he wasn't in on the conspiracy, they team up to destroy the terrorists as well as the CIA scum who set them up to take a fall in this hilarious actioner.

Holy crap! What can you say about a movie that doesn't bother to shoot an actionscene but rathet just rips off  actionscenes from other movies and then strain to edit in new scenes to make it flow, this is a shameful thing but
Rangers wears it's badge of shame with honor and it rips off action from Invasion USA (At least three actionscenes), The Delta Force, Navy Seals and Red Heat.  Of course these movies were made in the 80's and well it's quite obvious that the look is of the 80's and not 2001. This alone makes the movie laughable from start to finish but then the movie features such priceless absurdity that the movie becomes distinct as so bad it's good greatness.

In a world of bad movies
Rangers ranks as one of the best bad movies of all time, I mean when it comes to quality this one is worse than even Gymkata, infact one gets the impression that people were drunk when writing, directing and acting in this. What is quite astonishing is that the cast is actually better than the material warrants. Remember McCoy from Police Academy 5 and Police Academy 6 (Not to mention his spot on Seinfeld.)  well Rangers is much funnier than the Police Academy movies he was in.  I haven't laughed this hard since I saw Troll 2. How do movies this moronic get made? It's so highly unlikely yet unbelievably simplistic in it's subplot.  I mean we are talking a subplot where Plummer kidnaps McCoy's wife but they manage to talk about it. Not to mention that Plummer blows up his friend's house and all he gets is a punch to the face. Dear lord this movie stinks but it's so bad it's crossed the line of classic fantasticness. (See this movie is even getting me to make up words)  It's one of those movies that make us feel a little dumber after watching it, but who cares this is the perfect kind of entertaining crap that they just don't make anymore.  I for one am so happy because I was affraid that the days of campy bad actionflicks were over, thankfully Rangers succeeds in sheer incompetence.  This is a 5 beer minimum movie. Get drunk and marvel at the awfulness because Rangers is one of the best bad movies of all time. Woo hoo! D.Jim Wynorski
